The 27th South China International Exhibition on Printing Industry (Printing South China 2020) will return on 4-6 March 2020 at Area A, China Import and Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou.

Printing South China aims to provide the industry with cutting-edge technological solutions to help with their transformation and development. The six theme zones will cater to the industry needs for technological innovation, intelligent technologies, environmental protection and more, and showcase exhibits from pre-press, printing, packaging printing, to post-press processing, consumables and accessories.

6 theme zones address 3 main trends

Trend 1: Lower cost and improve efficiency with smart technologies

With rising labor cost and labor shortage, how to reduce the number of staff and increase production capacity is a common challenge in the industry, particularly in post-press production, which plays a key role in product appearance, and could add value to the product to increase profits. Yet the post-press process is often labor-intensive, and the rising labor costs would hinder profit growth.

Smart technologies can reduce the reliance on human labor, especially on repetitive, tedious tasks; automation can reduce human error while improving efficiency, productivity and quality, to ensure that enterprises break the bottleneck of profit growth.

At the Smart Packaging Printing Zone, exhibitors such as Guowang, Jinbao, Zhongke, Horda, YOCO, Wenhong, Guangming, Xinwei, Huayue, Shanhe, Dayuan, Degang, Fangbang, Daqiao, Hongming, Zihong, Meidu and Huazhu will integrate resources from smart packaging, as well as display leading automatic and intelligent technologies and solutions.

Trend 2: Green and sustainable development

In recent years there has been a rise in green awareness among consumers, particularly the millennials and Gen Z. According to Forbes, Gen Z will make up over 40% of all shoppers by 2020. Whether to respond to government green policies or to improve branding to attract more customers, going green is inevitable.

At Green Flexo Printing Zone, exhibitors including Taiyo Kikai, Weigang, Jingda and Lisheng will showcase a range of flexographic equipment and green printing materials to meet environmental needs.

Following the worldwide effort for plastic reduction and European Union’s single-use plastic ban that includes disposable plates and straws, paper containers will gain further importance. At the Paper Container Equipment Zone, suppliers of paper container materials and equipment, such as Fangbang, Ruizhi, Hoson, Zenbo, Ruida, SINI, Magnolia, will provide modern technologies and solutions.

Trend 3: Potential in different market segments

According to Worldwide Market for Print 2.0: Global Opportunities in Packaging by NPES - The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies (now rebranded as Association for Print Technologies) and VDMA - The Mechanical Engineering Industry Association of Germany, print packaging will grow at an average annual rate of 5.2%, reaching USD 286 billion in 2020.

Among the segments, corrugated is the largest and most mature market, and is still growing at an annual average growth rate of 4.5%, while flexible print packaging is the fastest-growing segment, with 5.6% average annual growth rate.

The Corrugated Packaging Zone will feature innovative equipment and technologies, providing visitors with more diversified and economical products. Star exhibitors include YOCO, Wenhong, Dayuan, Shanhe, etc.

Printing South China 2020 will also establish a brand-new Flexible Packaging Printing Zone, where visitors can enjoy technological innovation and cost-saving benefit from flexible packaging equipment, consumables and services, offered by exhibitors such as Bestmade, Weisheng and Qiangtuo.

With improved technologies, quality materials are also needed. The Specialty Paper & Packaging Materials Zone, newly launched in 2019, will keep abreast of the development trends to meet the needs for printing functionality, customization and environmental-friendliness. Featured exhibitors include Yongji, Hongyi, Haihui, Jia Li, Xinjinxuan, Lord Art Paper, Eko, Yiguan, Changtai, Cailong, etc.

90% of booths sold out

Over 90% of the exhibition space has been sold. Except the mentioned exhibitors, participating exhibitors also include CRON, RISO, Shield, Henghua, Colorte, Jialuo, Xunyue and more (not in particular order).

Printing South China 2020 will be held together with Sino-Label, Sino-Pack and PACKINNO, forming a 4-in-1 expo which covers the entire print-to-pack industry value chain. There will be equipment for printing, labeling and packaging, packaging materials and products, as well as logistics solutions on display. The expo will cover 12 halls with an exhibition area of 120,000 sq.m. and is expected to attract 1,500 exhibitors and 85,000 visitors, making it a not-to-be-missed event for the industry.
